Random junk, but it’s cheap

***Guest Post***

Have you ever bought something that you really don’t need, but decided “Hey, for that price, I’d be a fool NOT to buy it”?  Well woot.com is a site that caters to people that just love a good deal, even if it’s for something they don’t necessarily need.

woot works like this: one product is posted on their site everyday.  This product is sold at a discount compared to it’s retail price.  Only one product is sold every day, and there is a limited quantity of this sale item. Once it’s sold out, then you’re outta luck.  You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see what their next discounted product is.

This leaves the site visitor with an extra sense of urgency: “If i don’t get it now, it may be sold out”.  Plus, because there is one new product every day, it keeps the customer’s coming back everyday to find the next great deal.

The site has been so successful, they’ve spawned a few other sites specifically selling a different t shirt, or wine every day (woot wine! and woot tshirt!)

While it’s always nice to see great deals, you should always decide if you really, REALLY need it before you make the plunge.  I mean, is there really that great of a demand for Digital Golf Ball Locators?

The Best of Craigslist

If you ever needed to sell something the one site that usually comes up is Craigslist

It is a wonderful tool for buying\selling stuff, but on ocassion you get the weirdest ads.

Here are my 3 favourites in no particular order:

1. To the Minotaur that lives above me.

2. MISS ME! Goddamnit!!

3. To all those who ride transit…

Twitter.com

I first heard about Twitter on Diggnation a while back and I was intrigued but didn’t have the time to get into it until recently.  I have been using Twitter for last month or so and have found it quite addicting.

What is Twitter?

Twitter is like a mini blog, where you post whats on your mind in 140 characters or less. This video does a great job explaining Twitter.

You can use it directly at Twitter or use one of the desktop applications like Twirl or iPhone apps like Twinkle or Twitterific.

Due to its recent surge of popularity, there has been a lot of times where the service has been down signified by this image:

Fail Whale

It has been dubbed “Fail Whale” and has a great story behind it.

From the eyes of the colour blind

Did you know that 10.5 million men in the US are colour blind? I’ve always wondered how this effects someone.

Color + Design has created some examples of well known sites from the eyes of the colour blind.

And my site would look like this

The Colorblind Web Page filter will show you how any site would look. Color + Design Blog

Do you know someone that is colour blind or are you? How does this effect you?
