Review: Joe - Ain’t Nothing Like Me
It’s been over 10 years since the Joe’s debut album, “Everything”, and he hasn’t missed a beat. His latest album Ain’t Nothing Like Me brings the familiar smooth R&B sounds that made him one of the kings of bedroom slow jams. The first single “Where You at” written by Sean Garrett features rapper Papoose with heart pouring lyrics (”Damn yo scent ain’t on my pillow case no more / (Baby where you at?) I just recognize I’m livin life alone”). Grammy winning producers Tim & Bob leave their mark on Get To Know Me with the help of Nas. This album also features guest appearances of Tony Yago, Young Buck, Fabolous and Dre.
This timeless set will be sure to be thumping in bedrooms across the continent, there really Ain’t Nothing Like Joe.

Review: Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Thing
If you don’t know, today is New Music Tuesday! I hope to review a new album every Tuesday, so first up is Avril Lavigne’s new one.
So this is the old married Avril. “Don’t pretend, I think you know, I’m damn precious, and hell yeah, I’m the mother f—ing princess!” Avril Lavigne’s The Best Damn Thing, her third album,is one that just frustrates you. Scattered among some great tracks are these inferior ones that make you scream out WTF! It makes you wonder what happened to Lavigne after moving to Lalaland.
The Best Damn Thing re embraces the power puff, pom pom pumping, punk kid within, with gutsy guitar riffs to Toni Basil inspired hand claps and cheers. This sk8r outcast turned pop princess does have a few tracks to save this album from being a total ear sore. This album is a marked departure from the Napanee punk kid of Under My Skin with catchy sing-along choruses in “Girlfriend” to emotional ballads like “Keep Holding On”, which she wrote for the film Eragon.
Almost 23, Avril Lavigne still has a lot of growing up to do, and this album shows it. The Best Damn Thing often sounds like she’s still a bratty teenager, but who do you think this album is for? Her next album should be interesting, and hopefully brings more production from Butch Walker.

Dance to Inspire, Inspire to Dance
Being able to dance seemed to have skipped me for some reason. My parents ball-room, my sister is in hip-hop dance groups… me? I dance like a stick thrown into a river… rigid and bobbing randomly. Eddie Uehara has made a few videos with some moving quotes. Read the rest of this entry »
Poke me…
Social networking sites have come and gone over the years… Do you remember AsianAvenue and Xanga? Friendsters’ popularity has seemed to be dwindling and people are jumping ship to Facebook. What’s common about all these sites is that its a breeding ground for internet stalkers that must Google everything about you or the e-Gansta’s that type in jibberish acting all tough. I support social networking sites for communication tools but this unhealthy infatuation of people (mostly girls) you don’t know must stop! That’s my rant for the day, check out these funny videos after the jump! Read the rest of this entry »
